HW Opening Ceremony

当九月的阳光洒满校园，华外同文外国语学校2026年秋季开学典礼如约而至。华外同文弦乐团奏响《西班牙舞曲》，琴弓与琴弦碰撞出热情，为典礼拉开序幕。

在温馨热闹的氛围中开启新学期

华外校长秦金华女士在致辞中，为全体师生阐释了新学年主题——“时刻做好自己”。  

Principal Qin Jinhua introduced the year’s theme: “Always Strive to be Your Best Self.”

“时刻做好自己”，不是要求每分每秒都紧绷着神经，也不是让你和别人比谁跑得更快。它的真正含义是：在每一个当下，把手头的事情，做到你自己的最好。  

秦校长以400多年前的科学家徐光启为例——他翻译《几何原本》时为一个词的含义反复推敲，编修历书时深夜里一遍遍观测星象。他做这些事，不是为和别人比赛，而是因为知道，把眼前的事做好，就是对时间最大的尊重。  

This does not mean tense every second, nor competing with others. It means: in each present moment, do your personal best with what is at hand.  She cited scientist Xu Guangqi (1600s)—he weighed every word translating Euclid’s Elements, and observed stars late nights for calendar revision. He did not compete; he knew that doing the task well respects time.

每个人的成长节奏都不一样。有的花春天开，有的花秋天开，但它们同样美丽。“时刻做好自己”，就是找到并守住自己的节奏。  

有时需要像短跑运动员一样全力以赴，有时需要像马拉松选手一样稳步前进，有时甚至需要停下来静静思考——我真正热爱的是什么？我下一步该往哪里走？

Everyone grows differently—some flowers bloom in spring, some in autumn, yet all are beautiful. “Always Strive to be Your Best Self” means finding and keeping your rhythm.  Sometimes sprint, sometimes pace like a marathoner, sometimes pause to ask: What do I truly love? Where do I go next?

典礼上，华外发布了人工智能“双星计划”——Hope和Wish两位AI伙伴正式亮相。Hope代表希望，见证每一分坚持；Wish代表祝愿，珍视每一份独特。他们将帮助老师处理琐碎事务，把时间花在更有趣的地方——设计更有趣的课堂，带领同学们探索更有趣的世界。  

At the ceremony, HW launched “Twin-Star AI”—Hope and Wish. Hope witnesses persistence; Wish values uniqueness. They handle trivial tasks for teachers, freeing time for more engaging classes and explorations.

“我的荣光时刻”颁奖环节，一批在上学期末及暑假期间获得区级及以上赛事一等类荣誉的优秀学子登上舞台，接受属于他们的荣光。他们分别在语言类、艺术类、科技类、体育类、学科类和公益活动及比赛中取得优异成绩，为成为“全面发展、特长突出”的华外人画上浓墨重彩的一笔。

The “My Glorious Moment” awards honored students who won district-level or higher first-prize honors last semester and over summer.

In the bell-ringing ritual, representatives struck the gong for fall 2026. New students deposited “letters to the future,” pledging to their future selves.
